1Introduction

AskTutorsEdu ("AskTutorsEdu", "we", "us" or "our") operates asktutorsedu.com, an online platform connecting students with qualified tutors for IGCSE, GCSE, A Level and related curricula. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, store and safeguard the personal information of students, parents, guardians and tutors who visit our website, submit an enquiry, book a free demo, or enrol in a tutoring package.

By using our website or booking a session through AskTutorsEdu, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use our site or services.

2Information we collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information generated automatically as you use our site, and information shared with us by tutors and schools where relevant. This may include:

  • Personal details: full name, email address, phone number and, where applicable, date of birth of the student.
  • Academic information: curriculum or exam board (IGCSE, GCSE, A Level), subjects of interest, school name, and current grade or target grade.
  • Payment information: billing name and address, processed securely by our third-party payment providers — we do not store full card numbers.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically via cookies and analytics tools.
  • Communication data: messages, enquiries or attachments sent to us through our contact forms, WhatsApp, email or live chat.
  • Session data: lesson bookings, attendance, progress notes and feedback shared between tutors and students to track academic progress.

3How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To match students with suitable tutors and schedule tutoring sessions.
  • To process payments, issue invoices and manage subscriptions or packages.
  • To respond to enquiries, provide customer support and send booking confirmations.
  • To improve our website, tutoring platform and course materials based on usage and feedback.
  • To send service updates, exam-season reminders or promotional offers, where you have opted in.
  • To maintain platform safety, detect fraud, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

4Cookies & tracking technologies

AskTutorsEdu uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our site. This includes essential cookies (required for the site to function), analytics cookies (to measure traffic and popular pages), and, where enabled, marketing cookies used to tailor ads about our tutoring programmes.

You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that disabling essential cookies may affect the functionality of booking forms and account features.

5How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With your assigned tutor — so they can prepare and deliver relevant, curriculum-aligned lessons.
  • With service providers — payment processors, video-conferencing tools, email and hosting providers who support our operations under confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal reasons — where required by law, regulation, legal process or to protect the rights, property or safety of AskTutorsEdu, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers — if AskTutorsEdu is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Third-party links: Our website may link to external sites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party websites, and we encourage you to review their own policies.

6Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services, satisfy the purposes described in this policy, or comply with legal, accounting and reporting obligations. When information is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.

7Your privacy rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to legal and contractual retention requirements.
  • Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time.
  • Object to, or request restriction of, certain processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@asktutorsedu.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable data protection law.

8Children's privacy

Our tutoring services are designed for school-age students and are intended to be used with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. Where a student is under 13 (or the age of digital consent in their country), a parent or guardian must register the account, provide consent, and remains responsible for the information submitted. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without such consent.

9Google user data

Where a tutor or student chooses to connect a Google account, AskTutorsEdu may access Google Calendar and Google Meet data solely to schedule tutoring sessions and generate video-call links. This data is used only to provide the scheduling feature — it is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to train AI or machine-learning models. Google user data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted to systems that need it to operate.

Users may disconnect their Google account or request deletion of associated data at any time by contacting privacy@asktutorsedu.com. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

10International data transfers

As AskTutorsEdu connects students and tutors across different countries, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a country other than your own. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data receives an equivalent standard of protection, consistent with this policy and applicable law.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page along with a revised "last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
